Hi there, I'm Panipat!

I work in applied machine learning, especially in medical devices and healthcare applications. My background is in mechanical engineering and biomechanics, where I developed mechanical prosthetics and hip implants during my master's degree. I then pivoted to machine learning during my PhD at Imperial, where I worked on hand gesture recognition research, which is closely related to the prosthetic hand work I'd done before.

Currently, my main interest is ML for MedTech applications. I also enjoy working across the whole ML pipeline, from research (ML problem statement, data processing, model development) through to deploying robust systems that people actually rely on. Additionally, I have hands-on experience developing Class III medical devices, particularly building Quality Management Systems (QMS) to meet regulatory standards and get them approved.

Another skill I picked up along the way is that I can program and run industrial CNC manufacturing machines (e.g., lathes, 5-axis CNC machining, etc.), which could come in handy for any prototyping or physical product development.

Experience

  • ML Engineer at SERG Technologies, working on Parkinson's disease monitoring and medication management solutions.
  • Research Engineer at Chulalongkorn University, developed Class III medical hip implants and led the research lab's ISO 13485 manufacturing certification.
  • Graduate Research Assistant at Chulalongkorn University, developed and manufactured several mechanical prosthesis designs.

Education

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, researched hand gesture recognition for prosthetic control.
  • Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, researched and developed a mechanical prosthetic hand.
